Engine & Propulsion - Full Mission Engine Room Simulator

The Full Mission Engine Room Simulator (FMERS) is a cutting edge, turnkey solution suitable for training Marine

Engineers at Watch keeping, Operational and Management levels.

It enables a realistic and accurate simulation of the Engine Room, comprising a Main Engine Control Room, Main

Switch Board, and simulated machinery space including a mimic pipeline panel, and local operating stations.

The FMERS simulates the MAN B& W 6S60MC 6 cylinder, 2 stroke, reversible, slow speed marine diesel main

engine of firing order 1,5,3,4,2,6 which is directly coupled to a fixed pitch propeller and all the auxiliary systems that

accompany such an installation in main engine room of a tanker.

Components

Full Mission Engine Room Simulator incorporates whole range

of Engine Room Equipment in its software module and mimic

panel. A full list of Engine Room Equipment is:

Features

The Software is based on realistic and rigorous mathematical

models, and the Hardware creates a realistic engine room

environment with a large number of real dials,

gauges, controls, indicators and switches. The ARI FMERS

can be used in stand-alone mode (with instructor acting

as the bridge control) or coupled to a Bridge simulator

for interactive training.

Other salient features of simulator training space and instructor function are as under:

  • Mimic pipeline panel – incorporated in both hardware and software
  • All pump and pipeline models take into account fluid characteristics
  • Warming-up procedure for steam machinery
  • External conditions that affect main engine and machinery performance can be simulated
  • Full control over the simulation environment for instructor
  • Data/Event Record & Replay in real- time/accelerated mode
  • Exercise designer
  • Generation of errors in trainee work space, A library of over 500 readily injectable faults are available in the instructor station.
  • Flexibility and ease of use enables injection of specific faults or change in default values
